Wheat...West coast cash wheat markets remained in a relatively narrow
trading range as the week got underway, with bids tracking near week-ago
levels. Basis levels did see some shifting, however, as white wheat basis
to Chicago remained a bit defensive and weakened 15 cents from a week ago,
while dark northern spring basis firmed 10 cents against MIAX futures.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a modest improvement in
the pace of U.S. wheat shipments last week, coming in at 12.8 million
bushels. This puts year-to-date loadings at 434 million bushels and 20%
ahead of a year ago. Hard red spring and hard red winter registered 3.7
million bushels each, with white wheat moving 2.3 million bushels. West
coast export activity was centered on corn movement, with 23.5 million
bushels lifted, along with 5.6 million bushels of wheat that went mostly
to South Korea and The Philippines.
